The extra a Peer Coach offers to Coaching:
Transforming Lives Through Shared Experience.
PeerCoach Academy
Like you can’t tickle yourself, you can’t coach yourself. That is why in the world of personal and professional growth, the figure of the coach is fundamental. A coach is a trained professional who guides people in their process, helping them achieve their goals and discover their full potential. Coaches use effective tools and techniques to motivate, support and challenge their clients to look beyond their perceived limits, and pose disrupting questions.
However, there are times when something deeper and more meaningful is needed: a genuine connection, based on shared experiences and authentic understanding of what others are going through. This is where the Peer Coach comes into play.
A Peer Coach is someone who has walked a path similar to the peer (in peer coaching a client is called a peer), facing comparable challenges and emerging with a unique understanding. The key distinction is in that shared experience. While a traditional coach offers all the things mentioned above, a Peer Coach adds a deeper level of empathy and connection, stemming from having lived through similar situations. This shared journey fosters an emotional bond that can greatly enhance the coaching process.
Opportunity Peer Coach Academy
At Peer Coach Academy, we offer a unique opportunity to train and coach as a Peer Coach. Over a period of time, you will be part of a diverse group of people who, like you, have gone through significant experiences and are willing to use those experiences to help others.
Here, you will learn to use your own story as a powerful tool for transformation. Through our training program, you will acquire the skills necessary to guide others who are on the same journey, creating a deep connection that facilitates more effective joint work.
Transforming Lives Together
The power of Peer Coaching lies in the relationship that is established between coach and peer. It is a relationship that goes beyond theory; it is based on trust, mutual understanding and the security of knowing that someone else really understands what you are going through.
In addition, in this process, you will also learn a lot about yourself. By helping others find their way, you will be confronted with your own experiences, emotions and strengths. This journey is not only an opportunity to empower others, but also to grow and develop as an individual.
As a Peer Coach, you will not only be offering support; you will be opening doors, showing paths and accompanying people at every step of their journey. It is a role that requires commitment and passion, but it also offers the immense satisfaction of knowing that you are making a real and positive difference in the lives of others, while discovering new facets of your own being.
We invite you to join Peer Coach Academy, where you’ll be able to channel your experiences into a transformative force. Here, you’ll not only train as a Peer Coach, but you’ll also become a beacon of hope and change for those in need. Together, we can create a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of many people.
We look forward to seeing you soon
and accompanying you on this exciting journey!
Our Peer Coach training program is your opportunity to make a real impact in your community while also experiencing personal growth. This program starts twice a year and is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful peer coach. It’s more than just training, it’s a journey of self-discovery and empowerment that allows you to help others find their path, too.
Program overview
The training starts twice a year, lasts for about 5 months and includes:
- 28 Training Sessions: Each session is 2 hours long, helping you build key coaching skills.
- 10 Hours of Mentor Coaching: Work with experienced coaches who will guide you and help you improve.
- 25 Practice Coaching Sessions: Practise your skills with fellow students in a supportive environment.
- At Least 80 Real Coaching Sessions: Apply what you’ve learned by coaching others in real situations.
- Assignments and Reflections: You’ll write session transcripts, reflect on your coaching and personal growth, and receive feedback.
Time Commitment:
Be prepared to invest about 15 hours a week in this program.
- Self-Discovery: Get to know yourself better, discover your strengths, passions, and dreams, and learn how to use them to reach your goals.
- Mind Mastery: Understand how your brain works and learn strategies to overcome challenges and make your dreams a reality.
- Goal Setting: Learn how to set and achieve goals that are meaningful to you.
Storytelling
- Share Your Story: Learn how to turn your experiences into powerful and inspiring stories. This will not only help you, but also help you guide others to believe in themselves and their potential.
Art of coaching
- Learn how to listen, really listen. To hear what’s behind the words, to understand and really see your peers.
- Learn to build trust, to build a bond. Learn to encourage your peers to open up, to be vulnerable.
- Learn to be a little bit disruptive, by asking unexpected questions, or just to repeat that one word. To stimulate the peer to step out of the comfort zone and look from a different perspective.
- Mastering the art of Coaching, sometimes a coach will use methods (in the training we will teach two) but often the coach freely combines different techniques of questions, reflections, summaries or even silences. You will learn those techniques, methods, goal setting and contracting. The most important thing you will learn is – again – to really hear and see your peers.
Once you complete the training,
- attended at least 80% of the meetings,
- fulfilled at least 25 coach sessions with a fellow student,
- documented 80 sessions with ‘real’ peers,
- and have passed the final assessment,
you will receive a certification as a Peer Coach.
